Dragon Fruit
Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, are grown on a flowering cactus. While it is native to Southern Mexico and Central America, Dragon Fruit is now grown in many places around the world. Dragon fruit is loaded with Vitamin C and fibre, but is also rich in iron. One serving of Dragon Fruit (100g) contains 8% of the RDI of iron. Dragon fruit is not only good for you but tastes delicious. The seed speckled pulp tastes sweet, similar to the taste of kiwi fruit and is great eaten fresh, in fruit salad and smoothies.
Produce Time currently stocks white dragon fruit all year round with red dragon fruit arriving in the summer months. Starting in January 2021, Produce Time will be stocking both red and white dragon fruit, as well as yellow dragon fruit all year round. Our Dragon fruit comes from the Northern Territory and Northern NSW.
